Krandel "Tub" Lew Buffington, 85 of Colo, passed away Sunday, November 3, 2024, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames.

Tub was born August 13, 1939, in Colo, Iowa, the son of Clifford Earl and Anna Marie (O'Donnell) Buffington. He attended Colo High School and spent his life on the century family farm outside of Colo. Tub enjoyed working with draft horses and for many years he pulled with them at the Iowa State Fair.

Tub was a devoted member of the Story-Marshall Cluster and most recently was attending Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church near Gilbert. He devoted his life to caring for his brother Mike and his mother in her later years.

Tub is survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins along with many extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers Darwin (in infancy), Michael, Virgil and Clifford "Gary"; and his sister Karol Buffington.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 8, 2024, at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Gilbert with Father Kyle Digmann officiating. Family will greet friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at St. James Catholic Cemetery in Colo.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Iowa State Fair Blue-Ribbon Foundation or the Stead Family Children's Hospital in Iowa City.

Tub certainly has earned his crown of jewels.
