Kristina "Kris" Louise Lager, 66 of Colo, died Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at her home.

Kris was born October 21, 1956, in Kansas City, MO, the daughter of Thomas Richard and Kathleen Louise (Frisbie) Perry. She graduated from Smithville High School in 1974 and earned her bachelor's degree from Northwest Missouri State in Animal Science in 1979. On August 30, 1980, Kris was united in marriage to Kelly Milton Lager in Smithville, MO. She then furthered her education at the University of Missouri, earning her master's degree in 1989 in physiology.

Kris was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Nevada and the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship. Her love of horses, adoption of Logi and Lucy from Romania, and her vision for what could be, led to the start of One Heart Equestrian Therapy, an organization to provide therapeutic and educational services to people with disabilities. Her passions included family, cooking everything, entertaining company from everywhere, and traveling to everywhere.

Kris is survived by her husband, Kelly of Colo; her daughter, Lucy Lager of Ames; her mother, Kathleen Perry of Kansas City, MO; and her brothers, Thomas (Tam) Perry of Hillsboro, KS, and Tim (Judith) Perry of Kansas City, MO. She was preceded in death by her father and her daughter, Clara Kathleen "Logi" Lager.

A visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Friday, January 13, 2023, at Rasmusson-Ryan Funeral Home (1418 Fawcett Pkwy) in Nevada. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 14, 2023, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church (1110 11th Street) in Nevada with Father Rick Dagit officiating. The service will be livestreamed and can be viewed by going to www.rasmussonfh.com and clicking on Kris's photo then tribute wall.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to One Heart Equestrian Therapy in memory of Kris.
