La Rue Fern Ramsey, 79 of Colo, passed away Sunday, January 7, 2024, at Accura of Ames.

La Rue was born December 27, 1944, in Randall, IA, the daughter of Henry Oscar and Arlene Fern (Claude) Sandve. She attended Geneva High School before her family moved to Collins during her senior year, graduating in 1962. La Rue was united in marriage to Homer Ramsey in 1969. They were married 44 years when Homer passed away in 2013.

La Rue worked for several years at Ag Land Realty as a secretary and helped in the kitchen at Colo-NESCO. She was a member of the Colo United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School. La Rue was also a Cub Scout Leader. She enjoyed taking weekly trips to Meskwaki Casino and collecting Fenton glassware. La Rue had a special place in her heart for animals, especially horses, dogs, and cats.

La Rue is survived by her sons, Bob (Deborah Hannen) Ramsey of Iowa City and Mike Ramsey of Colo; and her brother, Henry "Joe" Sandve of Marshalltown. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and her son, David.

A visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday, January 25, 2024, at Rasmusson-Ryan Funeral Home (1418 Fawcett Pkwy) in Nevada. A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday, January 26, 2024, also at the funeral home.
