Larry Dean Bullock, age 83 of Ames, formerly of Nevada, died Monday, August 24, 2026, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames.
The memorial service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, August 27, 2026, at Rasmusson-Ryan Funeral Home, 1418 Fawcett Pkwy in Nevada. Family will greet friends beginning at 1 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service. Inurnment will be at a later date at the Nevada Municipal Cemetery in Nevada.
Larry Dean Bullock was born on June 23, 1943, to Thomas Bullock and Dorothy (Shayer) Bullock. A 1962 graduate of Nevada High School, Larry married Sherry Myers on June 28, 1964. In 1969, the Bullock’s welcomed their first daughter, Marne (Kelly) Steinke of Cedar Rapids, IA and two years later, their son, Monte (Tammy) Bullock of Waterloo, WI.
Larry worked for Continental Fertilizer in Nevada, Northwestern Bell Telephone and retired from AT&T Telephone. He later had his own business, PhoneWorks for several years. Larry loved to garden and be outside working in the yard or garage. Cars, especially older models, were his passion and he liked to attend the Barrett-Jackson car auction in Phoenix, AZ after retiring.
Larry was deeply proud of his children – their educations, the careers they built and the families they raised. He was happiest surrounded by his kids and grandkids, whether visiting them or welcoming them home. Those visits were never often enough or long enough for him.
Larry is survived by his wife, Sherry; his children, Marne (Kelly) and Monte (Tammy), Marne’s two children, Sarah and Owen; Monte’s four children, Logan, Caleb, Abigail and Madison; his sister, Connie Bullock; and his brother, David (Elisa) Bullock. He was preceded in death by his father and mother.
Memorials may be made to the William F. Ball Legion Post #48 in Nevada or to the Nevada Patriotic Council in memory of Larry.
Rasmusson-Ryan Funeral Home in Nevada has been entrusted with arrangements. Condolences may be shared with the family online at www.rasmussonfh.com.
