Larry Lee Krupp, 83 of Nevada, passed away Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames.
Larry was born December 21, 1939, in Diagonal, Iowa, the son of Floyd and Arlene (McCreary) Krupp. He graduated from Melbourne High School in 1958. Following graduation, Larry enlisted in the United States Marines Corps. serving four years until his honorable discharge in 1963. On June 6, 1965, Larry was united in marriage to Connie Lou Weuve in Melbourne. He worked many years as a real estate broker and apartment management team with Connie as partner, then branched off into general contracting of residential homes specializing in wood foundations. Larry was responsible for developing housing projects in the Nevada area including Southwoods Townhomes, Krupp City Addition, Krupp Country Additions and several office complexes.
Larry was a member of Memorial Lutheran Church in Nevada, the Lutheran Church of the Holy Trinity in Holualoa, the Elks Club, and before retirement was a staunch Rotarian. Larry was also a past president of the Hawkeye Packard (classic car) Club. He had a passion for flying: in particular, helicopters in Vietnam, and a single engine plane he co-owned with a friend in Nevada in the 1970s. Together, Larry and Connie spent a part of each year at their home on the Big Island of Hawaii during the last ten years.
Larry is survived by his wife, Connie of Nevada; his son, Kris (Susan) Krupp of Akeley, MN; his daughter, Kim (John) Bowen of Akeley, MN; his grandson, Zackery Krupp of Charlotte, NC; his sister, Linda (Bob) Ellicott; and his brother, Albert (DeAnna) Krupp of Phoenix, AZ. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Jim Krupp.
A memorial service will be at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 14 at Memorial Lutheran Church (701 11th Street) in Nevada with Pastor Kathleen Lotz officiating. (Live video streaming available.) The inurnment will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Marshalltown.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are welcomed to Memorial Lutheran Church of Nevada, Iowa, and/or the non-profit AdvoCATSHawaii.org, a charity Larry & Connie served with passion each and every day they stayed on the Big Island.
