Larry Dean Reeves, 75 of Madrid, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at MercyOne Medical Center in Des Moines.

Larry was born December 21, 1949, in Des Moines, IA the son of Gerald Benton and Rose Marie (Van Hook) Reeves. He graduated from Maxwell High School in 1968 and earned a degree as a diesel mechanic from DMACC. On September 5, 1970, Larry was united in marriage to Mary Ellen Edwards at the Loring United Methodist Church. He worked for Cummins Central Power, retiring in 2018 after 46 years of service.

Larry was a member of Cory Grove Church in Elkhart where he had served as a board member. He deeply loved his Lord and Savior and his family. Simple picnics or traveling the Midwest for family vacations gave Larry great joy.

Larry is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen Reeves and his three children: Melissa Jochims (husband Jeff and son Josiah (15), Sara Reeves-Metz (husband Ken Metz and children Amelia (18), Grace (15), Eli (8), and Jordan Reeves (wife Jenni Reeves and daughters Paige (17), Zoey (13) and Addy (13). Larry has 4 surviving siblings, Sharon Tolleson (husband David), Gary Reeves, Jeff Reeves, Mari Kooi (husband Pete).

He was preceded in death by Gerald & Rose Marie Reeves.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family. Checks may be made to Mary Reeves with Larry's name in the memo.

Larry's funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, February 13, 2025, at Cory Grove Church, 6700 NE 124th PL, Elkhart. Interment will follow at Cory Grove Cemetery.
