PRAIRIE CITY - Lawrence A. Booth, 78, of Prairie City, died Saturday, July 5, 2008 at the Mitchell Village Care Center in Mitchellville. Lawrence was born March 10, 1930 on the family farm near prairie City, Iowa, the son of Clarence C. and Dorothy (Mead) Booth. He attended and graduated from Prairie City High School in 1948. Lawrence served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. Lawrence was united in marriage to Goldie M. Dupuy on July 5, 1952 in Des Moines, Iowa. He was a lifetime member of the Prairie City United Methodist Church and a member of the Central Hawkeye Gas Engine & Tractor Association. Lawrence loved his family, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also had a love for restoring antique tractors. He is survived by his wife, Goldie, of Prairie City; 3 daughters: Pamela (Carl) Van Der Kamp of Prairie City, Patty (Jim) Tiernan of Granger, Becky Booth of Prairie City; 4 grandchildren: Ryan Van Der Kamp (Crystal Leedom), Erik (Jody) Van Der Kamp, Bethany Tiernan, Adam Tiernan; 2 great-grandchildren: Haley and Kathryn Van Der Kamp; and his sister: Doris Booth of Prairie City. Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents. Memorial services will be 10:30 AM Thursday, July 10th at the Prairie City United Methodist Church. Visitation will be 6:00 - 8:00 PM Wednesday, July 9th at the Prairie City United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Prairie City United Methodist Church Building Fund and to the Prairie City Ambulance. Bacon Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
