Lois Jean (Clark) Rasmusson, 96 of Nevada, Iowa, passed away Friday, July 30, 2021. Lois, youngest daughter of David Earl Clark and Minnie Florence (Thomas) Clark was born on July 25, 1925, in Marshall County, Iowa. She graduated from Saint Anthony High School in 1942. She graduated from AIB in Des Moines and worked as a secretary at Iowa State University. On May 24, 1947, she married Walter Forrest Rasmusson. They farmed north of Nevada and in 1989 they retired and moved to Nevada. Lois belonged to the McCallsburg Presbyterian Church, serving as an elder, the treasurer and Sunday school teacher. She also served as a 4-H leader. She enjoyed golf, gardening and doing many different types of crafts. She loved attending the many sporting events and 4-H competitions with her children and grandchildren. She will be remembered for her quick wit, kind smile and her many kitty cat companions. Lois is survived by her children Charles (Chris) Rasmusson of Nevada; Carol (Chuck) Balvanz of Hubbard and Donna (Bill Schwertley) of Ames; six grandchildren: Matthew Rasmusson of Marshalltown; Neil (Florinda) Rasmusson of Brea, California; Lea (Chris) Howe of Los Angeles, California; Ted (Mandy) Rasmusson of Nevada; Joe (Jennifer) Balvanz of Ankeny; Casey (Tyler Bauman) Balvanz of Eldora and step-grandson Chris Schwertley of Nevada. She also loved her eight great-grandchildren: Madison, Maria, Mylie, Max, Ben and Miriam Rasmusson, Grady and Brooks Balvanz, two step grandchildren, Kalgary and Tucker Bauman, and many nieces and nephews. She is mourned by her final kitty cat companion, Daisy. The family (and Daisy) would like to thank the staff at Windsor Manor for their excellent care during the past few months. She was preceded in death by her husband Walter Forrest, her parents, brothers Harold and Wayne, sister Thelma and her son Alan. Lois's visitation will be held at Rasmusson-Ryan Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 3 from 5 – 7 pm. Funeral Service will be at held Rasmusson-Ryan Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 4 at 10:30 am, with Pastor Tom Poppe officiating. Burial to follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Richland Township.
