Obituary

Lonny Glen Rugg 56, of New Providence, IA, passed away from Covid on February 12th, 2022, in the arms of his beloved wife and love of his life Renee' of 33 years at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames, IA. Lonny was born July 28th, 1965, in Fort Dodge, IA to Larry Glen Rugg and La Donna Loehr-Rugg. Lonny grew up in Eagle Grove, IA graduating class of 1983. He pursued a career in the automotive business. Lonny was a dedicated employee of 29 years as the body shop manager at Wilson Toyota in Ames, IA. Lonny and his wife Renee' met in 1989. They purchased an acreage near New Providence, IA in 1998. Lonny loved animals, especially his fur babies - Cider, Kahlua, Willow, and their donkey, Tulip who greeted him loudly every day. Lonny enjoyed feeding the birds, especially Finches, Bluebirds and Woodpeckers, he never let them go hungry. Lonny and Renee' enjoyed traveling. One of their fondest and most memorable was to Europe, Neuschwanstein Castle-Germany. Lonny and Renee' also enjoyed riding their motorcycles to see the scenery and feel freedom of the road. Lonny is survived by his wife Renee'; his daughter Marissa (Steven) Welch; 4 grandchildren; his brothers, Larry Jo and Lantz (Diane); his mother, La Donna, his step-mother Marian Rugg; his nieces; his nephews; and other extended family. He was preceded in death by his beloved father, Larry Glen Rugg; sister-in-law, Rondella and his grandparents. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Rugg family at 10780 730th Ave, New Providence, IA 50206, for expenses due to Lonny's passing. A "Celebration of Life" will be March 19th, 2022, at the Elks Lodge 522 Douglas Ave. Ames, IA from 1-5 p.m. Rasmusson-Ryan Funeral Home in Nevada is handling arrangements.
