Lorraine Bernadine Kennedy, 86, previously of Kelley, IA passed away suddenly on February 19, 2022. She was born in Story City, Iowa on July 31, 1935, to George and Marie (Stole) Nibe. She was raised in Story City with her three siblings where she graduated from Story City High School.
Lorraine was married to Donald Tesdall in 1955 and they had three children, Dwight, who died in infancy, Douglas and Anne Marie. Later, Lorraine met the love of her life, Lawrence E. Kennedy, and they were married on July 27, 1963. They were happily married until Lawrence's passing in 2010.
Lorraine spent her career working for the Iowa DOT in the office of design as a draft woman. She proudly retired after 41 years of service in 1997. Lorraine greatly enjoyed dressing up as Mrs. Claus during the annual DOT Christmas party for several years, and she recalled many long-lasting friends from her time at the DOT. Lorraine was a faithful member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Kelley where she served a term as secretary to the church council.
Lorraine loved her family and friends and was known for often asking how children and grandchildren were doing. She enjoyed playing cards and talked fondly of her church group. Lorraine relished regular trips to the casino and even enjoyed a limo ride to Tama with Lawrence to celebrate her retirement. Lorraine lived most of her adult life in Kelley before moving to Huxley and then Nevada.
Lorraine is survived by her daughter, Anne Marie Tesdall, sister Donna (Bill) See, grandson Aaron Tesdall, and great-grandson Jonah Tesdall, all of Nevada. She is preceded in death by her husband Lawrence, her parents George and Marie Nibe, sons Dwight and Doug Tesdall, brother Melbourne Nibe and sister Gladys Branyord.
