Lyle Edward Stahl of Nevada, Iowa, died at Rolling Green Village on Tuesday, February 14, 2023.

On February 14th, 2023, heaven must have needed a handyman. Lyle Edward Stahl had seen the world change in his 92 years. His father was (Henry Edward Stahl and mother Esther Marie Fry). He grew up on a farm near Ewart Iowa. Lyle was from a generation that has seen homework by kerosene lamp while attending Montezuma schools, to experience of the digital world. His dream of following in his father's footsteps as a farmer was delayed for two years when he was drafted into the Army, to serve in the Korean conflict. Originally destined to be a forward observer for a frontline heavy mortar battalion, he was transferred, to the motor pool after showing his mechanical skills of repair to the commander's jeep. On returning to the United States he set about accomplishing two of his dreams. To get his pilot's license and return to the joy of roller skating in Oskaloosa. The latter of which introduced him to a skating partner Nell Norris, who in turn introduced him to her twin sister, Barbara. This would start a almost 70 year love story. Lyle and Barbara would be married on June 4th,1955 and welcome their first daughter Debbie the following year. Soon after this the young family would move to Florida to be close to Barbara's family in Tampa. There they welcomed their second daughter Elizabeth. He spent several years in Florida, before his heart longed for his Iowa home. On returning to Iowa, Lyle worked for General Telephone and Electronics in Grinnell, Iowa. In 1968 Lyle

moved his family to Nevada, Iowa where he took a management position with GTE. In Nevada Iowa, he would put down roots.

Lyle is survived by his wife of 67 years Barbara (Norris) Stahl, two daughters Debbie (Kris) Corbin of Nevada, and Elizabeth (David) Cox of Ames, one grandson Henry Corbin of Nevada, and loving nieces and nephews in Iowa and Illinois.

A family celebration will be held in the summer.
