MAXWELL _ Mabel Kahler, 96, of Maxwell, died Friday, March 21, 2008 at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Mabel was born September 7, 1911 near Nevada, Iowa the daughter of Asa C. and Nancy Jane (Young) Banks. Mabel was united to Fred Merrel Kahler on November 9, 1929 in Des Moines. Fred preceded Mabel in death in 1997. Mabel was a homemaker and a member of the Methodist Church. Mabel is survived by a daughter: Marge (Rhineardt) Kilker of Rhodes; 2 sons: Richard (Donna) Kahler of Maxwell, Paul (Dorothy) Kahler of Granger; 8 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; and a brother, Fred Banks of Clear Lake. Mabel was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Pat Coles, in 1998; a son, Robert, in 1930; 3 sisters and 6 brothers. Funeral services will be 1:30pm Tuesday at the Bacon Funeral Home in Maxwell with Rev. Tom Lee officiating. Burial will be in the Woodland Cemetery at Iowa Center, Iowa. Visitation will be 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Monday at the Bacon Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Woodland Cemetery Association. Bacon Funeral Home of Maxwell is handling arrangements.
