Marilyn Anne (Dobson) Smith died Wednesday, June 28, 2023 at Israel Hospice House in Ames, Iowa.

Marilyn Anne (Dobson) Smith was born March 15, 1950, to Carlton and Dorothy Dobson of Montour, Iowa. She married John Bugely on February 6, 1978, in Nevada, Iowa. He passed away in April 1995. She was united into marriage to Jerry Smith on August 29, 2009, in Story City, Iowa. She graduated in 1968.

Marilyn enjoyed spending time with her daughter and grandchildren. She was employed by Mary Greeley Hospital for 35 years and retired March 17, 2017. She also worked at Nevada Poultry in Nevada, and The Home Café which her sister owned.

She is survived by her husband Jerry Smith of Nevada, one daughter: Traci (Wheeler) Bugely of Nevada, Iowa; a sister: Kay Bartmess of Boone, Iowa; one granddaughter: Ashley (Tommy) Baxter of Newton, Iowa and one grandson: Austin Niederjohn of Ames, Iowa.

She was preceded in by her parents, her two brothers: Carlton Max Dobson and Larry Dobson; her two sisters: Sandra who died at birth and Sharyl George. Plus, her very special fur babies, Lippy and Bandit.

The visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m, Wednesday, July 5, 2023, at Rasmusson-Ryan Funeral Home (1418 Fawcett Parkway) in Nevada, Iowa. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 6, 2023, at Rasmusson-Ryan Funeral Home (1418 Fawcett Parkway) in Nevada, Iowa. Burial will follow at Nevada Municipal Cemetery.
