Marilyn (Lewis) Tjelmeland, 73 of Boone, passed away from two long battles with cancer surrounded by her loved ones at home on September 9, 2020. She was born December 9, 1946, in Ames, Iowa, the daughter of Heman and Harriet Lewis. Marilyn graduated from Ames High School in 1965 and was united in marriage to Steve Tjelmeland on March 11, 1983.
Marilyn enjoyed making crafts and spent many years traveling to craft shows and owning her own gift shop, Treasures on Main. She also enjoyed gardening and working with flowers where she spent the last few years working at Hy-Vee Floral Shop in Boone. Marilyn loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and of course her many fur-babies. She also enjoyed getting together with many of her friends and former classmates of Ames High.
Survivors include her only daughter, Barb (Kris) Jones of Boone; sister Barbara Mosness of Novinger, MO; three granddaughters: Sarah (Derrice), Megan (Nick) and Taylor (Orlando) and eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Steve Tjelmeland; her parents; and most recently sister Pat Kiesewetter, beloved fur-babies, Macy, Maddie and Murphy.
A celebration of life will be 1 p.m. Saturday, September 19 at 624 Garden Road in Ames.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Suncrest Hospice or Boone County Humane Society.
