Marlene Kay
Thompson

Saturday
Maxwell Community Center
1:00 - 3:00 pm (Central time)
Marlene Robertson Thompson was born in 1945 to Verle and Ruby Robertson and raised in Maxwell, Iowa, where she graduated with the Maxwell High School Class of 1963. Maxwell was more than the place she grew up; it was home, a place and a community that would always hold a special place in her heart.
Marlene married the love of her life, Leonard Thompson, in 1963 beginning a marriage that spanned 43 years and brought them the greatest blessing of all: four beautiful children. Together, they moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, where they raised their family before Marlene eventually returned to Maxwell, coming home to the people, places, and roots she cherished.
Marlene lived life with a spirit of adventure and a deep love for sports and the great outdoors. She embraced life fully, met its challenges head-on, and brought an unmistakable strength and determination to everything she did. She was a fierce and devoted mother and grandmother, a steadfast supporter, and a loyal friend to all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Above all, Marlene was there for her family. Whether in moments of celebration or times of need, her loved ones knew she was never far away. Her love was unwavering, her presence reassuring, and her pride in her family immeasurable. She leaves behind a legacy of strength, loyalty, adventure, and, most importantly, love.
Marlene was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 43 years, Leonard; her parents, Verle and Ruby Robertson; and her grandchildren, Michelle Porter Early and Darald Lynn Porter.
She is survived by her four children, Cindy, Judy, Mary, and Kevin; seven grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren, all of whom carry forward a part of her legacy. Marlene will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her family, friends, and all whose lives she touched. Her strength, spirit, and love will live on through the generations she leaves behind.
A private graveside service will be held for family following a celebration of life/funeral on Saturday, November 7, 2026 from 1-3pm at the Maxwell Community Center, 84 Main Street, Maxwell, Iowa. Family and friends are invited and welcome to come together to honor and celebrate a life well lived.
