NEVADA - Marlys N. Bern, 77, of Nevada, formerly of Gladbrook, died Sunday, February 26, 2006 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Marlys was born September 24, 1928 at Gladbrook, IA the daughter of Frederick and Amanda (Mohr) Diedrichsen. Marlys was a homemaker and enjoyed painting house interiors and dog sitting. She was a member of the Gladbrook's Women's' Bowling Association. She is survived by 2 sons: Chris Bern of Knoxville, IA, Kerry Bern of Ames, IA; a daughter and son in law: Guila (Mick) Tscherter of Nevada, IA; 3 grandchildren: Scott (Angie) Tscherter, Tracy (Zack) Spykerman, Eliot Bern; and 1 great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents; 1 grandson, Jacob Bern; 2 brothers and 2 sisters. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Wednesday at the Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada with Pastor Myron Herzberg officiating. Burial will be in the Nevada Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 pm Tuesday at the Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada. The Bacon Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
