Mary Ann Apland, 83, previously of Nevada, passed away December 17th, 2022, in Madrid, Iowa. She was born October 10, 1939, in Cambridge, Iowa, to Carl Telene and Mollie (Lee) Apland.

Following her graduation from Shipley High School in 1957, she spent her career serving at the Story County Courthouse in Nevada. Treasurer's, Clerk of Court, and Public Defenders offices, joyfully helping her community.

She was a lifelong member of Nazareth Lutheran Church in Cambridge, and was active in, Wa-tan-ye, Beta Signa Psi and Questers. She also provided leadership for the Shipley Alumni Association. She enjoyed playing the piano, ("banging on it" as her brothers might say) and often played at her church as well as in Nevada Care Centers. She was clever with crochet and needlepoint that she graciously gifted to her family and friends. Bowling was another of her many hobbies.

Mary Ann is survived by her brother, Donald (Leila) Apland, of Ankeny, sister-in-law, Marilyn Apland, of Nevada, niece, Sheryl Baldus of Nevada, and nephew, Steve (Jenny) Apland of Bondurant; her great-nieces, Mollie, Rachel and Shelby (Justin); and a great-nephew, Christian. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Richard Apland.

A celebration of life will be December 31, 2022, from 10 am until noon at Rasmusson-Ryan (1418 Fawcett Pkwy) in Nevada.  No graveside service, at this time. She will be laid to rest next to her loving parents in Cambridge Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Nazareth Lutheran Church in Cambridge, or Alzheimer's Association-Greater Iowa Chapter.
