Mary
Brinkman
March 3, 1990 – October 24, 2024
Mary Francis, 34, was born in Des Moines on March 3, 1990, and passed away at home on the evening of October 24, 2024. She was the youngest of seven and deeply cherished by each of her siblings.
Mary had a generous spirit and a warmth that made strangers feel like friends. She loved the outdoors, whether gathering leaves in her yard or seashells on the beach. Always teaching her children and sharing new experiences with them, Mary's greatest wish was for her family to be together, wherever they were. She had a unique connection with each of her siblings, cousins, nieces, and nephews, sharing in their lives with understanding and care.
She had a love for sharing her favorite books, movies, and shows, including Harry Potter, Call the Midwife, The Hunger Games, When Calls the Heart, all Hallmark movies, and Guardians of the Galaxy, where Groot was her favorite character. Music filled Mary's days—she played it everywhere she went.
Mary was a dedicated baker who loved trying new recipes and sharing her creations. Her passion led her to start a small business, "Baked Goods with Mom & Son," which she brought to farmers markets. Generous and caring, she was always the first to help anyone in need, and her family's well-being was her priority.
She enjoyed crafting and spent time making things with her children for their home. She and her husband, Mark, were married on April 23, 2022, and settled in Maxwell, Iowa. Together, they explored new places, visited family in Michigan and Texas, and looked forward to their next adventure. Recently, Mary traveled with her family to the Scentsy Conference in Florida, making lasting memories at Disney World. Her travels took her to places like Mount Rushmore, the Badlands, the Pella Tulip Festival, and Wisconsin Dells, and she had been planning a trip to see New England's autumn colors.
Mary and her mother shared a close bond, often planning family gatherings, events, and outings like the Iowa State Fair, creating memories her family will hold dear forever.
Mary is survived by her husband, Mark; children, son Michael James, and daughter Madie Ann-Marie. Her mother, Kimberli Detrick from Des Moines, IA; Sisters Jessica Aguirre from Midland, TX, Megan Lewis from Rockport, TX, Brothers Michael Detrick from Midland, TX, Jonathan Boylan from Flint, MI, Daniel Boylan from Rockport, TX, and Luke Pettey from Des Moines, IA.
Uncles and Aunts Charles and Kellie Detrick from Des Moines. Second cousin, Steve and Kathy Lott from Des Moines.
