Obituary

Mary Lillian Conard, aged 91, of Boone, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at the Eastern Star Home in Boone.

Born on October 28, 1933, in Marathon, IA, Mary was the beloved daughter of Louis and Maude (Garton) Ahrens. On May 1, 1952, she married the love of her life Howard Franklin Conard, and together they built a life filled with love for everyone that came into their lives and dedication to their love of the Lord. Mary proudly earned her GED in the late 1960s and worked at Bethany Manor and H&R Block. However, her true passion was assisting Howard on their cherished family farm.

A devoted member of the Mackey Methodist Church, Mary found joy in decorating cakes, crafting, crocheting, and knitting there was no craft she didn't like. She was a familiar face at farmers' markets and craft shows, where she sold her handmade creations. Mary will be fondly remembered for being the egg lady delivering them to your door for just $1 a dozen.

Mary is survived by her daughters: Mary E. (David) Conard-Long and Suzann M. (Tom) Blair; Grandchildren: Robin (Latwain) Clinton, Elainea (Alan) Beard, John (Sadie) Conard, Mary (Chad) Tillman, Mike (Breanna) Blair, Toni Evenski and Daniel Blair; 26 great-grandchildren; 26 great-great grandchildren; 3 great-great-great grandchildren and her brother George (Glenda) Ahrens. Every one of them was cherished and loved.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Howard in 2018; her infant daughters Catherine and Rebeca; and her siblings Lois Becker, John Ahrens, Fritz Ahrens, Ross "Bud" Ahrens, Chris Fritcher and Fern Craven.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at Mackey Methodist Church (288 V Avenue) near Story City. Burial will take place later at Mineral Ridge Cemetery in Ridgeport.
