Mary Ellen Reeves, 74 of Madrid, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, June 17, 2025, at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames.

Mary was born on March 3, 1951, in Oberlin, Kansas, the daughter of Howard and Frances (Cox) Edwards. She graduated from Maxwell High School in 1969. She was also a Licensed Broker. On September 5,1970 Mary Ellen was united in marriage to Larry Reeves at the Loring United Methodist Church. She worked for Life Investors selling life insurance. She was also a devoted mother and wife.

Mary was a member of Cory Grove Church in Elkhart where she was an active member for many years. Mary enjoyed nothing more than being with her family. She was a loving wife, mother, daughter, aunt, niece, and grandmother. Hosting family gatherings brought her joy and brought us together regularly. Mary was a talented artist and gardener; she especially loved summertime evenings on the deck enjoying, together with Larry, the birds' songs and her beautifully potted flowers. Her loving ways were noticed by all who got to know her.

Mary is survived by her three children: Melissa Jochims (husband Jeff and son Josiah (15), Sara Reeves-Metz (husband Ken Metz and children Amelia (19), Grace (15), Eli (8) and Jordan Reeves (wife Jenni Reeves and daughters Paige (17), Zoey (13) and Addy (13). Mary has one surviving sibling, Barbara Johnson.

She was preceded in death by her parents Howard and Frances Edwards, her beloved husband Larry Reeves as well as several other relatives.

Flowers/ plant arrangements can be made at the Flower Bed in Nevada, Iowa by noon on Thursday or memorials may be made to the family in Mary's name.
