Matthew Dorr Allen, 57 of Story City, passed away Monday, October 7, 2024, at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames.

Matt was born November 18, 1966, in Nevada, Iowa the son of Carl William and Judy Mae (Sande) Allen. He graduated from Nevada High School in 1985 and spent his life working construction.

Matt was a loyal fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes, Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears and NASCAR. He enjoyed playing golf, bowling and fishing. In his free time, you could find him walking the timber that surrounds his home.

Matthew is survived by the love of his life Sue Whitaker of Story City; his mother Judy Allen of Nevada; children BJ (Sam) Whitaker of Roland, Katie (Shane) Sweitzer of State Center and Matthew Whitaker of Colo; his grandchildren Tucker and Kennedy Whitaker, Cassie Weber; Isaac, Samuel and Georgia Harrington and Adam Sweitzer; his sister Lori (James) Olson of Nevada; and his nephew Tyler Olson of Windsor, CO. He was preceded in death by his father Carl; his paternal grandparents John, Dorothy and Maxine Allen; and his maternal grandparents Art and Marie Sande.

A celebration of Matt's life will be held at a later date. Private family burial will be at the Nevada Municipal Cemetery in Nevada.

In keeping with Matt's selfless and generous spirit, we honored his decision to be a donor. Matt donated life so that others may live.
