Carlton "Max" Dobson, 85 of Nevada, died Thursday, December 24, 2020, at Story County Senior Care in Nevada. Max was born the oldest of five children on October 31, 1935, in Tama County, Iowa the son of Carlton "Shorty" Dobson and Dorothy Slingluff. He was united in marriage to Janice Elaine Oxley on June 12, 1954, in Miami, Oklahoma. Max worked 18 years at the Redi-Mix plant before going to work for the Story County Road Department, retiring after 28 years. In his early years, Max enjoyed coon hunting and for many years he raised birds. He especially loved to be outdoors. Max always enjoyed going to Meskwaki Casino with Jan to play the slots. Max is survived by his wife of 66 years, Janice of Nevada; his sons, Rick (Shari) Dobson of Nevada and Doug (Linda) Dobson of Colo; four grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and two sisters, Darlene Bartmass and Marilyn (Jerry) Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents. Cremation has taken place and no services are planned. Rasmusson-Ryan Funeral Home in Nevada is handling arrangements.
