Maxine C.
Myers
April 15, 1924 – September 17, 2024
Maxine Coleen Myers, 100 years old, went to her Savior on September 17, 2024. She was a resident of Kennybrook Village in Grimes, Iowa since 2011.
Maxine was born on April 15, 1924 to Edward and Huldah Stebbins and graduated from Maxwell High School in 1942. She attended A.I.B in Des Moines. She worked at Coopers Furniture and Funeral Home in Maxwell for 35 years, retiring in 1986. She was a long-time member of the Maxwell Christian Church.
She married Fred Myers on September 10, 1942, and had 3 children; Gary, Steven (Speed) and Patricia.
Following the passing of her husband Fred, she married Jack Viers in 1986.
Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Fred and Jack, son Steven, great granddaughter Olivia, and 9 her siblings. She was amazed of her longevity and just couldn't believe she lived so long.
She is survived by her son Gary (special friend Mary Porter), daughter Pat (Tom) Oswald, 7 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She loved baking cakes and decorating them for; birthday's, weddings, graduations, and an occasional gag cake.
Fred and Maxine had a huge garden, canning or freezing the produce that lasted beyond the following season.
She loved being with family and friends, often playing cards. She enjoyed traveling and meeting new people, often discovering connections to those at home. Dancing to the Kenny Hofer Orchestra was a favorite and she danced every song.
The family wishes to extend sincerest thanks and gratitude to Kennybrook Village for the love and care shown to Maxine, especially the last 3 years. Also, to Suncrest Hospice care in her final days.
We praise God for his goodness and mercy through his son Jesus Christ, our Savior.
Maxine's wish is to send memorials to the Maxwell Community Center.
Interment will be at the Maxwell Cemetery with graveside services pending.
