Michael "Mick" Eugene Coughenour, 72 of Colo, passed away Sunday, June 9, 2024, at Limestone Nursing and Rehab in Athens, AL.

Michael was born June 6, 1952, in Marshalltown, IA, the son of Levi and Irene Frances (Cooper) Coughenour. He graduated from Colo High School in 1971 and from Hawkeye Community College with a degree in agriculture in 1973. Michael drove an LP truck for Heartland Co-op, retiring in 2017. He spent most of his life living outside Colo, where he raised sheep.

Michael enjoyed deer hunting, fishing trips to Canada and his cats. He especially loved family get togethers and playing cards and Mexican train dominos. Michael had a sweet tooth for ice cream, oatmeal cream pies and banana cream pie. In Michael's words, "there's always time for pie."

Michael is survived by his children Brodie (Marta) Coughenour of Dresden, TN, Heather Coughenour of Athens, AL and Mitchell (Kimberly) Coughenour of Athens, AL; his grandchildren Tyler Pearson, Zach Coughenour, McKenzie Coughenour and Chloe Coughenour; and one great-grandson Spencer Coughenour. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother Richard "Dick" Coughenour.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, June 20, 2024, at the Colo Cemetery in Colo with Pastor Nikki Ross Bishop officiating. A time of fellowship will follow at the Colo United Methodist Church in Colo.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Colo-NESCO FFA.
