Monica Maude Roney, 68 of Maxwell, died Saturday, April 3, 2021, at her home in Maxwell. Monica was born February 14, 1952, in Blue Earth, MN the daughter of William F. and Minerva (Thomas) Evans. She graduated from high school in Blue Earth, MN in 1970 and from Kirkwood Community College with a degree in Water Treatment Plant Operation. On January 13, 1996, Monica was united in marriage to Nicky Todd Roney in Grinnell. Monica worked for the City of Grinnell Street Department and was the Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator. Monica enjoyed gardening, hunting for fossils, mineral collecting and astronomy. She also enjoyed antiquing and bringing home all her finds along with visiting with her neighborhood friends. Most of all, she loved being a grandma. Monica is survived by her husband, Nicky of Maxwell; her daughter, Angela Dontje (Mike Boots) of Colo; three grandchildren: Devon and Zachary Boots and Brittany Youngmark; five siblings; and her beloved dog, Max. She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Desireé Dontje; her son, Bradley Zvanovec; and five siblings. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held at a later date in Maxwell. Memorial contributions may be made to the family in memory of Monica.
