Norma Elaine Rix, 92, of Nevada, formerly of Holiday Island, Arkansas, passed away Thursday, October 31, 2019, at Story County Senior Care in Nevada. Norma was born April 17, 1927, in Sac City, Iowa the daughter of Arlo Chester and Mary Irene (Engler) Shull. She graduated from Sac City High School in 1945 and was united in marriage to Donald Dean Rix on June 18, 1950, in Lytton, Iowa. Norma was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church in Holiday Island, AR and enjoyed playing cards, golfing and bowling. Norma was very giving of her time, volunteering at many places most recently including her church, the Purple House Thrift Shop and the ECHO Free Clinic in Eureka Springs. Norma is survived by her children: Mark (Carolyn) Rix of Fremont, NE, Paul (Susan) Rix of Austin, TX, Craig (Jeanne) Rix of Denver, CO, Mary (Jeff) Chamberlain of Rock Hill, SC and Sherry (Gene) Newsome of Nevada; her grandchildren: Matthew Rix, Gretchen Rix, Robert Rix, Cassie (Nick) Steenhagen, Jake Rix, Camille (Jason) Owens, Ashley (James) Fitzgerald and Cody Newsome; her great-grandchildren: Clarence Fitzgerald, Jentry Steenhagen, Ella Owens and Abby Owens; her siblings: Connie Olsen of Phoenix, AZ, Jane Olson of Dallas, TX, Don (Mary) Shull of Le Mars, Dennis (Luana) Shull of Indianola, Doug (Carol) Shull of Indianola and Mike Shull of Phoenix, AZ. Norma was preceded in death by her parents; her husband and her siblings: Tom Shull, George Shull, Ann Bennett and Joan Mayberry.
