Paula Kae Strum, 73, of Nevada died peacefully January 14, 2022, at Bethany Manor under the care of Suncrest Hospice. Paula was born and was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, Paul, on September 24, 1970. Paul worked full-time allowing Paula to be a stay-at-home mother. Each night dinner was prepared and served promptly when Paul got home. Paula loved to garden, and together with family and friends built an immaculate pond and garden at their home east of Nevada. The garden was complete with many exotic hybrids of plants and flowers. When the family lived in town, she would precisely measure the placement of annuals and dead head each plant while the kids were at school. The pond at the farm attracted a symphony of frogs and beautiful singing birds. The orioles were there each year eating grape jelly by the case. Paula enjoyed going to Prairie Meadows and playing high stakes Mexican Train. Because of Paula's quick wit and genuine love for her friends and family, people left happier than they arrived. Paula is survived by her husband Paul; her son Brian and daughter Amy (Rod) Brause; her grandchildren Christopher (Thalia) Ortega, Tena Strum, Hannah Kauffman, Ashley Peercy, Shelby Brause, and Amanda (Zach) Robinson; her great grandchildren, Bella and Emily Ortega, Bentley Walker, Aaliyah -Marie Bryanna Barrett, Cameryn Sudbrock, Zayden Elijah Barrett, Leighton Brause, and Traeger Houghtaling. Sister Claudia (Larry) McKim, brother Marty (Kathy) Corbin and many other family and friends. Paula was preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy; her grandson Bryan Paul Strum, and her brother Steven 'Craig' Corbin. A visitation will be 4-6 p.m. Thursday, January 20, 2022, at Rasmusson-Ryan Funeral Home (1418 Fawcett Pkwy) in Nevada. A funeral service will be at 6 p.m. with Pastor David Burling officiating.
