Phyllis Maxine Williams, age 98 of Colo, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at Iowa River Hospice House in Marshalltown.
Phyllis was born on May 24, 1928, in Lenox, Iowa, the daughter of Raymond and Glenna (Haas) Stoaks. She graduated from Ames High School in 1946 and was united in marriage to the love of her life, Tommy Howard Williams, on August 29, 1948, at First Christian Church in Nevada, Iowa. Together, they shared 77 wonderful years of marriage and built a life centered on love, faith, and family.
Phyllis devoted her life to her home and family as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker. She was a member of Collins Christian Church in Collins and found joy in sewing, crafting, and fishing. More than anything, Phyllis treasured the time she spent with her family. Her gentle spirit, caring heart, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She is lovingly survived by her husband, Tommy of Colo; her daughter, Linda Herman of Des Moines; her son, David Williams of Collins; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; her brother, Larry (Nancy) Stoaks of Colorado; and her sister, Margie Mauer of Pennsylvania.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Howard Dean Williams; and her siblings, Eugene, Harlan, Max, and Helen Stoaks.
A memorial service for Phyllis will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 18, 2026, at Rasmusson-Ryan Funeral Home, 1418 Fawcett Parkway, in Nevada. Family will greet friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Private family burial will be at Ashton Cemetery in rural Mingo, Iowa. The service will be livestreamed on the funeral home website.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Colo Public Library in memory of Phyllis.
