Rachel Rae Erickson, 22, of Cambridge, passed away October 13, 2014 after a long illness, at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames, Iowa. Rachel was born March 16, 1992 in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of Donald, Jr. and Julie (Johnson) Erickson. She graduated from Ballard High School in 2011 and attended Des Moines Area Community College in Ankeny. Rachel was a member of the Cambridge United Methodist Church, the Main Stream Living ACE Program, and Story County Community Life. Rachel enjoyed movies, music, her church youth group, dancing with her Grandma and Grandpa at Lake Robbins, and being with her friends. She loved her animals, especially her cat, Winnie. Rachel is survived by her parents, Donald, Jr. and Julie Erickson of Cambridge; her sister and brother-in-law: Sarah and Brandon Burmeister of Harlan, Iowa; her maternal grandparents: Dennis and Norma Johnson of Slater; her paternal grandparents: Donald and Kathy Erickson of Nevada; three Aunts: Angie (Phil) Lewis of Cedar Rapids, Roxann Boston of Ames, Debbie Erickson of Nevada; and several cousins. Visitation will be 5:00 -7:00 PM Thursday at the Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Friday at the Cambridge United Methodist Church. Cremation will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cambridge United Methodist Church and/or to the Cambridge Volunteer Fire Department.
