Raymond Dean Berry, 85 of Nevada, died Sunday, May 21, 2023, at Story County Long Term Care in Nevada, Iowa.

Born June 26, 1937 to Isaac Junior Berry and Bessie (Mitchell) Berry, he was the forth of six children born.

Ray is proceeded in death by his parents, his two sisters Margaret (Berry) Rice , Doris (Berry) Eivins, his three brothers Marvin Junior Berry, Robert Isaac Berry, and Larry Eugene Berry. Ray is survived by many Niece's and Nephew's and Great and Great-Great Niece's and Nephew's.

He was known for his "Boom my Pumpkins" and "My Boys".

Ray was born at home, a hard working young man, loved his momma, he would do anything for her, heard many stories about Ray and his little wagon hauling things for his mom. He would sometimes help his mom work at the old hotel in Nevada and work in the fields for the Collins, Myers, and the Hertz Families. He dropped out of school to help provide for his family, he started out at the tile plant with Don McHose, at a young age and he worked there till they closed in 1977, then he found a job at Crows Hybrid worked there until he was 65 and he retired.

He continued with work, working in his garden, Allen McHose allowed Ray to have his garden out in the area by where the old Tile plant was. And until about five years ago, gardening got to be too much for him. So he would visit people who he enjoyed and raised a small garden at the Meadows where he lived 21 to 22 years. This past year Ray had been falling a lot and he decided that he would need help so, he wanted to move to long term care at Story County. Ray passed away peacefully watching his western movies, on May 21, 2023, at 2:45 pm.
