Richard "Dick" Davis, 79, and Charlotte Davis, 78, of Colo, passed away Wednesday, January 8, 2020. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Friday, January 17 at Rasmusson-Ryan Funeral Home (1418 Fawcett Pkwy) in Nevada. Dick was born August 19, 1940, in Chanute, KS the son of Raymond Clifford and Selma Louise (Holmes) Davis. He graduated from Ames High School in 1958 and was united in marriage to Charlotte Sylvia Clapp on August 23, 1959, in Ames. Dick worked as a master plumber and enjoyed hunting, fishing and woodworking. Charlotte was born March 10, 1941, in Ames the daughter of Everett William and Zola Arlene (Bechtel) Clapp. She graduated from Ames High School in 1959 and had worked for Iowa State University, retiring in 2005. Charlotte enjoyed counted cross stich, quilting and genealogy. Together, they enjoyed gardening, yardwork and fishing trips to Alma, Wisconsin. Dick and Charlotte often would make gifts for their family, combining their hobbies of woodworking and counted cross stitch. Dick and Charlotte are survived by their children: Becki (Mike) Clark of Bondurant, Rusty (Pamela) Davis of Ankeny and Kerri (Dennis) Hapes of Colo; their grandchildren: Ryan (Brandi) Clark, Nick (Amy) Clark, Dustyn Clark, Jacob Hapes (fiancé Payton Bodensteiner), Kevin Hapes, Carter Davis and Spencer Davis and nine great-grandchildren. Dick is also survived by his brothers: Dennis (Angela) Davis of California and Craig Davis of Arizona. Charlotte is also survived by her brother, Arzy (Faye) Clapp of Ames; her sister, Fay Olson of Nevada and a sister-in-law, Karen Clapp of Texas. Dick and Charlotte were preceded in death by their parents and their daughter, Cindy Davis (in infancy). Charlotte is also preceded in death by her brothers, Lyle and Garland Clapp. Rasmusson-Ryan Funeral Home in Nevada is handling arrangements.
