Richard Earl Hunter Sr., 74, of Nevada, passed away Friday, January 8, 2016, at the Story County Medical Center in Nevada. Richard was born April 18, 1941, in Jefferson City, Missouri to James and Stella (Burton) Hunter. On April 18, 1959, he was united in marriage to Sharon Young in Nevada. Richard enjoyed horses and had served as chairman for the Story County Pony Express. He loved camping in the summer at Hickory Grove and Dakins Lake. Richard is survived by his wife, Sharon of Nevada; his sons: Rick Hunter Jr., Larry (Debra) Hunter, Lowell (Angela) Hunter and Shawn (Suzan) Hunter; his daughters: Cheryl Hunter and Julie (James) Nicholson; his brothers: James (Joyce) Hunter and John (Nancy) Hunter; his sister, Dixie Hein; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a son, Wayne Lee. Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, January 14, 2016, at Rasmusson-Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada.
