Ricky's journey through life was marked by significant experiences and an unwavering commitment to his loved ones. He was a proud veteran who served his country with honor and dedication. Although his time in the service was cut short to come home and tend to his father, it helped shape his character and instilled in him values of discipline and resilience that he carried throughout his life.

Though Ricky spent part of his life enjoying the sunshine and warm beaches of Florida, he later moved to Iowa, where he found a new sense of home being closer to family. He decided to make Florida his official vacation destination which became a place of solace and rejuvenation for him.

Ricky is now reunited with his parents, Arlo and Loretta (Atwood) Christian, in eternal peace. He is survived by his loving sister and brother, Sherry (Rob) George of Cambridge, Iowa and Danny Vangness of story City, Iowa, his son, James Christian of Des Moines, Iowa, and his adoring nieces, Cindy (Jerry) Roney of Cambridge, Iowa, and Tara Houser of Boone, Iowa. Ricky's legacy also extends to numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews who were fortunate to have him as part of their lives.

Ricky's passion for collecting was a defining part of his life. He had a keen eye for the unique and cherished his vast collection of jewelry, model cars and ships. He found joy in meticulously crafting model ships, a hobby that allowed him to express his creativity and attention to detail. In his leisure time, Ricky was known to enjoy watching classic TV shows, with "MASH" being one of his favorites. He had a deep appreciation for the nostalgia and simplicity of olden day television, finding comfort in the familiar characters and storylines.

He will be fondly remembered by family and friends for his warm heart, his sense of humor, and his ability to find joy in the everyday.
