Robert L. Ball, Sr. 70, passed away at Mercy Medical Center, Saturday, November 19, 2016. Robert (Bob) was born in Union County, Iowa to Kenneth and Evelyn (Welcher) Ball. He attended Winterset Community School. Bob grew up in the Winterset area, but had lived in Ames for the past several years. In his early years he was employed by Huff and Son Wells , of Winterset and later in life by Reinard Equipment, of Des Moines. Bob retire in 1999, due to health concerns. Bob is survived by his children: Robert Ball Jr., Dwayne Ball, Kenneth Ball and Chrissy (Marcus) Holveck; 9 grandchildren; 7 great-grand children; brothers: Steve Ball and Jerry Ball Sr.; sisters: Judy (Rex) Howard, Barbara (Elton) Ritter and Twila (Dick) Salsbury; and a host of extended family and friends. Bob was preceded in death by his parents Kenneth & Evelyn: his wife, Sandy; a son, Wendell; and a great-grandson, Creighton. The family will greet friends at 11:00 a.m. at a Graveside Memorial Service at Story Memorial Gardens, 3215 S. Duff Ave., Ames, IA, Wednesday, November 23, 2016. A luncheon will follow the graveside services, hosted by Bob's nieces Tere (Dan) Stella and Wendy (Ryan) Bales at the home of Dick & Twila Salsbury, 6502 SW 16th St. Des Moines, IA Memorial contributions may be directed to Bob's family.
