Robert "Bob" Darrell Ehrig, 75 of Nevada, died Friday, February 12, 2021, at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames.
Bob was born June 8, 1945, in Battle Creek, Iowa the son of Robert "Rusty" and Arlene (Martin) Ehrig. He graduated from Washington High School in Cherokee and from Northwest Iowa Community College. Bob also graduated from a clothier's institute in New Orleans. On May 29, 1977, he was united in marriage to Sandra Kay Townsend in Britt, Iowa. Bob was an insurance agent for American Republic Insurance.
Bob was a member of the Nevada First United Methodist Church and the Kiwanis Club of Nevada. He enjoyed playing golf, fishing, and bowling. He also loved to travel. Bob was a wine and coffee connoisseur and always enjoyed a good glass of scotch.
Bob is survived by his wife, Sandy of Nevada; his son, Dana (Jennifer) Ehrig; his daughters, Lisa (Tim) Ellefson and Libby (Brett) Roberts; five grandchildren: Ian Ehrig, Erica Ellefson, Annika Ellefson, Zachary Ehrig and Owen Ehrig; two great-grandchildren; his brother, Denny (Jeanie) Ehrig; his sisters, Teresa (David) Hansen and Esther (Mike) Albers; and his Swiss daughter, Lea Stacher. He was preceded in death by his parents; his infant sister, Kathy Jean Ehrig; and his brother and sister-in-law, Steve and Jayne Ehrig.
A private family service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, February 14, 2021, at Rasmusson-Ryan Funeral Home (1418 Fawcett Pkwy) in Nevada. The service will be livestreamed – to watch please go to the tribute wall of Bob's obituary on the Rasmusson-Ryan Funeral Home website – www.rasmussonfh.com. A public celebration of life (family will be present - open house style) will be 3-5 p.m. also on Sunday, February 14, at Gatherings (1024 6th Street) in Nevada. Please wear a face covering and practice social distancing.
