Robert "Rob" James Meyer, 68 of Nevada, died Saturday, October 30, 2021, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames of Idiopathic Interstitial Lung Disease. Rob was born December 23, 1952, on the family farm near Colesburg, Iowa the son of Marcellus Wilbur and Violet Elledge. He graduated from Edgewood-Colesburg High School in 1971 and from Iowa State University in 1975, double majoring in Psychology and Sociology. Rob was united in marriage to Christine Leona Haines on September 3, 1978, at Campus Baptist Church in Ames. He earned his Master of Theology from Dallas Theological Seminary, graduating with honors in 1983 and from Officer Chaplains Corps. in 1988. Rob served 21 years in the Army, retiring in 2009 with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel Chaplain. Rob was a member of the American Legion and IFCA. He was an avid Iowa State fan and enjoyed aviation, holding a pilot's license in his early years. Rob is survived by his wife, Christine; his daughters, Adria Meyer (Brendan McClurg) and Stephanie (Danial) Oldenburg; his grandchildren: Blaire McClurg and Amelia and Judith Oldenburg; his brothers, Michael (Cindy) Meyer and Mark Meyer; and his godmother, Leda Kriebs. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, David Meyer. Memorials may be given to the family for use to be determined at a later date. Family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. Burial with military honors will be at the Nevada Municipal Cemetery in Nevada.
