NEVADA - Roy Arthur Johnson, 90, of Nevada, died Sunday, June 15, 2008 at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Friday, June 20th, at Memorial Lutheran Church in Nevada. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Garden Cemetery near Nevada. Visitation will be 6:00 -8:00 PM Thursday at the Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada. Roy was born December 11, 1917 at Stewartville, Minnesota, the son John C. and Amy Elizabeth (Lawson) Johnson. He was the youngest of four children. He moved to Latimer, Iowa in 1932 and graduated from high school there in 1936. He was united in marriage to Lorraine Nygaard on August 23, 1940 in Coulter, Iowa. He and Lorraine bought their first hardware store at Bristow, Iowa in 1947. They moved to Nevada, Iowa in 1956 where they owned and operated the Johnson True Value Hardware until they retired in 1985. He was a member of the Memorial Lutheran Church in Nevada. He will be missed by his family and friends. Roy is survived by his son, John, of Nevada, Iowa; one grandson and his wife, Allen and Holly Johnson of Lake Forest Park, Washington; one granddaughter: Nicole Johnson of Surprise, Arizona; five great grandsons; and a special friend, Darlene Allen of Nevada, Roy was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Lorraine on July 13, 2001; two sisters: Alice and Helen; and one brother: Percy. Bacon Funeral Home and Crematory in Nevada is handling arrangements.
