COLLINS – Roy Dean Smith, 51, of Collins, passed away at his home, Tuesday, July 14, 2015. Roy was born December 1, 1963 in Nevada, Iowa, the son of Ronald L. and Karen M. (Laudner) Smith. Roy graduated from the Collins High School in 1983. Roy worked in Des Moines as a press operator. Roy was a member of the Collins United Methodist Church. He loved his cars, puttering with engines, and loved to golf. Roy enjoyed his work and having fun. Roy is survived by his mother, Karen Smith, of Nevada; his sister and brother-in-law: Rhonda and Bill Appelgate of Nevada; one niece: Samatha; one nephew: Clint; and an uncle: Delos Laudner, of Parker, Colorado. Roy was preceded in death by his father, Ron, in 2009. No services are planned. "May God grant you always… A sunbeam to charm you, a sheltering Angel so nothing can harm you. Laughter to cheer you. Faithful friends near you. And whenever you pray, Heaven to hear you." Memorials may be made to the Collins United Methodist Church in honor of Roy.
