Boone- Ruth A. Matthies, 85, of Boone passed away Thursday, March 11, 2010, at the Evangelical Free Church Home in Boone. A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, March 16, 2010, at Augustana Lutheran Church in Boone. Inurnment will follow at Linwood Park Cemetery. Ruth was born December 9, 1924, in Kansas City, Kansas, daughter of Antone and Agnes (Johnson) Teed. She married Otto Matthies on March 22, 1947, in Kansas City, Missouri. She worked as a secretary for Minnelusa Schools in Omaha, Nebraska. Ruth enjoyed playing the church organ, sewing quilts and reading. Ruth is survived by her daughter, Theresa (Steven) Bodenstab of Woodridge, IL, her son, John (Kitty) Matthies of Fair Oaks, CA, her daughter, Karen (David) Wilson of Boone and her son, Richard (Cindy) Matthies of Boone; 8 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Otto A. Matthies in 2001; two sisters, Elizabeth Sandquist and Lorena Roos. Memorial contributions may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation or to the Autism Society.
