Ruth A Olson, 74 of Nevada, died Friday, April 22, 2022, at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City. Ruth was born March 27, 1948, the daughter of Donald Edward and Elsie Fern (Minnier) Jackson. She graduated from Hampton High School in 1966 and attended Ellsworth Community College. On April 8, 1989, Ruth was united in marriage to Ron Olson in Nevada. She worked many years for Sam's Club and Wal-Mart in Ames as a greeter. Ruth loved to be outdoors and was an avid animal lover. Over the years she had many cats and dogs, most recently was her beloved dog Ranger that also passed with her. Ruth always enjoyed spending her Saturdays going to garage sales in search of her latest treasure or books to add to her multiple collections. Ruth always enjoyed reading and sharing books from her large collection. Often family requested Ruth's famous cheese cake to be brought to all family events. Ruth would often be seen wearing an Iowa Hawkeye shirt and she was known to often enjoy playing practical jokes on close family and friends. Ruth is survived by her daughter, Mary (Joel) Smith of Bayard; grandchildren, Clint Breer of Nevada and Jennifer (Chris) Marlatt of Nevada; her great-grandchildren, Dean Michael Marlatt, Lillian Marlatt and Oakley Breer; her sister, Terry (Richard) Pecha of Latimer, Brother-in-law Doug Warrings of Eureka Springs Arkansas, niece Erin(Dave) Brownmiller, nephew Brandon(Megan) Pecha and extended family She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ron; her infant son, Woodrow Edward Bond; and her sister, Darlyne Warrings. A celebration of Ruth's life will be held graveside at Nevada Municipal Cemetery in Nevada Friday, July 29, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Story County Animal Shelter in Nevada in memory of Ruth and Ranger.
