Sandy Kay Augustine, 72, of Nevada, Iowa, passed away on April 15, 2026, at Mary Greeley Medical Center following a long battle with multiple illnesses. She was surrounded by loved ones and those who cared deeply for her.

Sandy was born in Ames, Iowa, the daughter of Ivan and Dorothy (Williams) Walton. She attended school in Fort Dodge and Collins, Iowa. Sandy married Ron Augustine on August 12, 1989, in Nevada, Iowa where they resided.

Sandy worked several jobs, but her favorite was at Post 48 American Legion where she spent many years serving our veterans and had the pleasure of making many close friends. Sandy was a very hard worker and went above and beyond in all that she did.

Sandy enjoyed trips with her daughter, Niki, to Meskwaki Casino in Tama where she played bingo and penny slots. A special thank you to Niki, who attended every doctor's appointment over the years, and for the special bond that brought Sandy so much happiness throughout her life.

Sandy is survived by her husband, Ron of Nevada, her children, Nathan (Jenn) Herink of Boone, daughter, Niki Herink (Korey) of Slater, brother, Bobby Thompson of Nevada, sister, Ida Hall of Des Moines, bonus children Amy Flory (Kurt), Jeff Augustine (Yuki), and Jennifer (Jon) Respress, 11 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, numerous cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Lewis Thompson; sister, Sonya; brother, Ivan Jr; and several aunts, uncles, and close friends.

Per Sandy's request there will be no services.
