Sandra A. Olson, 74 of Nevada, died Sunday, August 7, 2022, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Sandy was born November 8, 1947, the daughter of Robert and Dorothy (Stemler) Thompson. Was united in marriage to Vail M. Olson on June 11, 1971, at Memorial Lutheran Church in Nevada. Sandy golfed and bowled in her early years. She enjoyed plants, a good meal out with friends and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. Sandy is survived by her children, Teri (Don) Thompson, Chad Olson, David Olson-McGlothlen, Mindy (Steve) Shill and Felica Olson; 17 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and her brothers, Scott (Carol) Thompson and Steve Thompson (Jill). She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Vail; her grandson, Brayton Shill; and her sister, Sharon Chitty. A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday, August 12, 2022, at Rasmusson-Ryan (1418 Fawcett Pkwy) in Nevada with Pastor David Burling officiating. Family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
