Sandra Sue Corbin, 83 of Des Moines, formerly of Nevada, passed away Sunday, June 30, 2024, at MercyOne Medical Center in Des Moines.

Sandy was born July 5, 1940, in Nevada, IA, the daughter of Richard Earl and Flossie Rebecca (Hopper) Pierce. On June 15, 1957, she was united in marriage to Herman Edward Corbin in Princeton, MO. Sandy worked for Mercy Hospital, retiring in 1997 and had worked as a classroom aide at the Nevada School District. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, baking and gardening. Sandy especially loved to be with her family and grandchildren.

Sandy is survived by her children: Diana (Louis) McCray of Des Moines, Kent (Teri) Corbin of Urbandale and Daniel Corbin (Kay Sparrgrove) of Des Moines; her brother Robert (Sylvia) Pierce; her sister Beverly (Robert) Sickles; 12 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren and her faithful service dog Dolly. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Herman in 2020; her son Ralph Corbin in 2004; her daughter Claudia Atkinson in 2024, her brothers Jim Pierce, Raymond Pierce and Alvin Pierce; her sisters Donna Pierce and Ruth Yocum; her son John Corbin (in infancy); and her grandson Joshua Corbin (in infancy).

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, July 6, 2024, at Murphy Cemetery near Nevada with Pastor David Burling officiating.

Memorials may be made to the family in memory of Sandy for use to be determined at a later date.
