Obituary

Sharon Ann Thompson Howell was born on July 29, 1940 to Dean and Helen Thompson.

She graduated Nevada High School in 1967 and then went to Nursing school in Burlington Iowa. She then married the love of her life Butch Howell on June 9, 1974 at Nevada Lutheran Church. She loved living and raising their children in Nevada. She was a wonderful mother to their three children Matthew, Joshua and Rachael.

Sharon was a dedicated nurse for over 40 plus years and loved being a caregiver to so many with all her years at Story County Hospital, Long term care and First Nurse. She absolutely loved being a nurse and touched so many lives and loved everyone she ever met. Her next best joy was being a grandma to the "Magnificent 5 as she called them". Being a grandma was the best thing to her and she fought so hard to see them all grow up. She also has such a strong faith and loved her church families at Nevada Lutheran and then Lutheran Church of Hope. Her faith and strength got her through some of the toughest times in her life these last few years.

Sharon loved all she met and was a friend to many. She unfortunately lost her battle on July 20, 2023, after complications from surgery. She fought so hard but is finally with the love of her life.

Sharon is survived by her three children, Matthew Howell Waukee, IA, Joshua Howell West Des Moines, IA, and Helen Rachael Duff (son in law Ayron Duff) of Waukee, IA; her magnificent 5 grandchildren, Gabriella, Kaegan, Noah, Ava and Tenley; her two brothers, Gary Thompson and Steven Thompson both of Texas; her nephews and nieces and two amazing sister laws Audrey and Debi Thompson. Her best friend and bonus sister Sheryl Olson and her many other close friends.

She is proceeded in death with her love or her life Eldon Butch Howell, Parents Dean and Helen Thompson and her sister Ruby Thompson Bickmore.

Sharon is finally at peace and back with the love of her life, who she has missed for so many years.

Any memorials we ask be sent to her family to help with her medical/burial expenses.
