Sharon Wheat, age 81, passed away on Thursday, October 17, 2024, at Mary Greely Medical Center in Ames, IA.

Sharon was born on January 31, 1943, in Des Moines, IA to parents Forrest and Rosalie Robertson. She graduated from Maxwell High School in 1961. Sharon married the love of her life of 62 years, Roy Darrel Wheat, on June 3, 1962, in Maxwell, IA. They lived in Fort Walton Beach and DeFuniak Springs, FL for 25 years, and moved back to Nevada, IA six years ago.

Painting, doing puzzles, gardening, playing the piano, watching the Iowa Hawkeyes and General Hospital were just a few things Sharon enjoyed. She talked often about how much she missed and loved going to the beach. Sharon was known for being very sweet as well as her kindness. She was especially proud of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Sharon is survived by her husband, Roy Darrel Wheat; children, Ron Wheat of Nevada, Sonja (Gary) Plunkett of Maxwell, Rhonda (Kurt) Haun of Ankeny, Candy (Mike) Gaedke of Colo, and Dorene (Greg) Cory of Maxwell; brothers, Vance Robertson, Perry (Linda) Robertson, and Shannon Robertson; sister in law Marylee Wheat; grandchildren, Sean Wheat, Brandon Wheat, Eric (Rachel) Plunkett, Kristin (Patrick) Hanson, Katie (Brandon) McGinty, Brett (Greta) Haun, Matthew Heidemann, Jessica (Travis) Owens, Joshua (fiancé Erin) Gaedke, Christopher Kuntzelman, Logan (Mariah) Cory, and Payton Cory; and 11 great-grandchildren

Sharon is preceded in death by her parents, Forrest and Rosalie Robertson; sister-in-law, Jeannie Robertson; and niece, Mindy Angstrom.

A Celebration of life will be November 3rd from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm at the Maxwell Area Community Center, 84 Main Street, Maxwell Iowa.
