Obituary

Shirley Ann Clement, daughter of Charlotte (Carver) and Leonard Clement, passed away Saturday, October 3, 2015, at Mercy Hospice in Johnston. Shirley was born June 29, 1935, in Collins, Iowa. She graduated from Reinbeck High School in 1953, and attended college for two years. Shirley was an administrative assistant and tour guide at the Salisbury House in Des Moines for 15 years. She had also worked in customer service for Freeman Decorating and Omaha Steaks. Shirley had also worked as an administrative assistant at the Child Saving Institute in Omaha and a corporate secretary and manager of data processing at Cedar Valley Corp. in Waterloo, retiring in 1994. Since retirement, she volunteered at Allen Memorial Hospital, where she was president of the Auxiliary and also volunteered at the Red Cross. She was very active in her church in Waterloo and enjoyed playing cards, arts and crafts and playing the organ. Those left to mourn her passing include her sister, Bonnie Lee (Joe) Birchmier of Altoona; one nephew; and five nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents; and infant brother, Ernest; and her brother Ted Clement in 2013. Shirley has been cremated and private family services will be held at a later date. Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada is handling arrangements.
