Shirley Kay Donaldson, 78 of Colchester, IL, passed away Thursday, May 16, 2024, at Edencrest at Beaverdale in Des Moines.

Shirley was born June 13, 1945, in Velva, North Dakota, the daughter of Robert Lee Swartzel Sr. and Violet Ruby Person. She graduated in 1963 from Nicholas County High School in West Virginia and was united in marriage to Charles Eugene Donaldson on July 3, 1965. Shirley spent her life as a homemaker raising her family.

Shirley is survived by her sons, Kent Donaldson of Urbandale and Keith Donaldson of Blandinsville, IL; and her granddaughter, Taylor (Hitesh) Jhurani of North Chelmsford, MA. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles in 2020; her brothers, Robert Swartzel Jr., and Larry Swartzel; and her sister, Virginia Earley.

Shirley has been cremated and a private graveside service will be held at Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Colchester, Illinois.
