Steven Virnie Pearey, 60 of Cambridge, died Saturday, March 27, 2021, at his home near Cambridge. Steve was born October 27, 1960, the son of Elwin Laverne and Lenore Zita (Ritter) Pearey. He graduated from North Polk High School and enlisted in the United States Army where he was an Airborne Ranger. Following his discharge from the Army, he worked in law enforcement in California and for Roadway. Steve farmed many years with his dad. Steve enjoyed collecting model cars and full-size cars. He also had a vast collection of monsters. Steve especially loved spending time with his Miniature Pinscher, Sophie. Steve is survived by his wife, Anna of Cambridge; his daughter, Amber Pearey (Ryan Hinson) of Des Moines, his son, Nick Pearey (Emma Byrd) of Kansas City and Cassie Pearey (Grant Chandler) of Ames; one grandson on the way; and his sister, Lynn Ann Hood of Newton. He was preceded in death by his parents; his half-brother Ramon and his half-sister, Linda Greenwood. Steve has been cremated and no services are planned.
