Sue Ellen Selby-Gore, 67 of Nevada, passed away Sunday, September 8, 2024, at her home in Nevada.

Sue was born June 18, 1957, in Pasadena, California, the daughter of Billy and Karen (Flynn) Selby. She graduated from Nevada High School in 1975 and furthered her education at Luther College, studying English and Psychology. Sue worked for the Ames Police Department as a records clerk for over 20 years.

Sue was a member of Central Presbyterian Church in Nevada. She was very active with the Story County Freedom Flights, helping many veterans see Washington D.C. Sue was a Gold Star Mother, an organization that helped mothers who had lost a child in the armed forces. She loved to be outside tending to her flowers and garden or spending time with her cat, Buddy.

Sue is survived by her son Sean Gore of Nevada; her mother Karen Selby of Nevada; her brother Scott Selby of Nevada; her nephews Christian (Trisha) Selby and Reid Selby; and her niece Annie Selby. She was preceded in death by her father Bill Selby (2017), and her son Sgt. Robert Jason Gore (2005).

Sue has been cremated and a celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
