Suzanne "Suzie" Erika
Johnson
May 10, 1947 – September 7, 2022
Suzanne Erika Johnson, 75, formerly of Centerville and Exira, died Wednesday, September 7, 2022, at the Madrid Home in Madrid, due to complications of Alzheimer's Disease.
Suzie was born May 10, 1947, to Werner and Norelda (Walmuth) Heinrich in Elgin, IL. She graduated from Dundee High School in Carpentersville, IL in 1965, and was united in marriage to Donald Earl Johnson on August 12, 1967, in Elgin, IL.
Suzie was most happy when spending time with her family. She was always in attendance at her daughters' sporting and school events. That carried on with her four grandchildren. She would go to great efforts to make sure that she attended all the grandchildrens' activities equally. She enjoyed playing games when family would visit. She loved her sons-in-law dearly, so much that her daughters were sure that if given the choice, she would keep them around over the girls.
Suzie is survived by her husband, Donald Johnson of Madrid; her daughters, Stefanie (Matthew) Gardner of Johnston and Carolyn (Kirk) Stevens of Ames; her grandchildren: Holly Gardner, Maggie Gardner, Jacob Stevens and Will Stevens; her "favorite daughter"- her niece, Cindy (Terry) Brust; her brothers: Erich Heinrich, Eugene (Julie) Heinrich, Philip (Cheri) Heinrich and Kurt (Deb) Heinrich; and her sister, Sonja (Mike) Dennis. She was preceded in death by her parents; her infant son, Matthew; and a sister, Paulette Veath.
The family would like to extend their immense gratitude to all the staff at Madrid Home, especially the incredible people who choose to work on the Memory Care Unit. The care you gave Suzie during her time with you was beyond exceptional. You took her in and loved her like she was family and we love you all like you are ours. Thank you.
A visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, September 13, 2022, at Rasmusson-Ryan Funeral Home (1418 Fawcett Pkwy) in Nevada. A private graveside service and burial will be at the Eldora Cemetery in Eldora.
